Attended a music demonstration at a Childrens Home followed by lunch/ games/ treats for the kids sponsored by the kids /parents of our Music School. It was a heart wrenching event but the purpose was to entertain the kids from the home as well as add cheer to the sad faces. We took it a step by taking all our own priviledged kids to the function and made them see what the less fortunate kids go through. Our kids were made to sit amongst the under privileged kids as well as hand out goodies to them. It also taught our kids that they should not teach the less fortunate any differently. The underprivileged kids took away loads of fun and an enlightening motivational talk by the head of our Music School.
Autism and ADHD are my main focus areas of recent - I have gone to Action in Autism in Durban North many years ago and lost contact with the foundation. I recently requested to be added back onto their mailing list so that I could keep abreast of developements in the field. This was for my own growth / knowledge. Without updated info I would never be able to succeed in assisting differently abled kids and the parents that are always reaching out for coping mechanisms.
