I had a conversation with a friend and she highlighted her experience with this topic:
Last year, I started a small online business selling clothes and accessories. At first, my main goal was to make as much money as possible. I found cheap suppliers who offered trendy items at very low prices, and my profits grew fast.
But after a while, I learned that some of those products came from factories where workers were underpaid and worked in bad conditions. That made me uncomfortable. I wanted to keep earning money, but I also didn’t want to support unfair labour practices.
I had to choose between keeping my profits high or finding more ethical suppliers who cost more. Choosing the moral route meant earning less, but it felt right.
This experience taught me that success isn’t only about making money but also about staying true to your values and being proud of what you do. In the long run, I’d rather build something honest than something that only looks successful on paper.
